If you believe that you DID have an index and it has simply moved off browse
time, you can run:
        nsrck -L7 -t 10/01/04 $clientname
Where -t is a date during which you believe the index was available. Example:

client1 backed up on 9/1/04 with 30 day retention

On 10/1/04, the saveset retention is cleared and the saveset is now listed as
"recoverable" not "browsable".

On 10/15/04, a restore is requested from 9/1 and the saveset is STILL listed as
"recoverable" not "recyclable"
(Recyclable means the index is no longer available and/or tapes
associated with the backup have been overwritten)

On 10/15/04, run "nsrck -L7 -t 09/20/04 client1" (Or any date prior to the
10/1 retention clearing.....the nsrck process rebuilds indexes from tape as if
it were that day (i.e. the 9/20 date would rebuild available indexes on a 30
day retention back to 8/20)).

Restore client data

Hope this helps.....but if you don't have ANY available indexes, you get to
"scanner" it....lucky lucky you.
