We are doing what you think.!!

 For several  reasons  on our Stk  library  with dlt7000   the cleaning
tapes
got   "fired" going only  5 times  after drives that didn't  really need
cleaning .
 So, for cleaning tapes  (too old for clearing the "drive cleaning light"),
we use them in the "auto clean way" because as you know
the system just mounts the cleaning tape as skeduled without checking
"uses" !!
 Certainly  I don't say that its better than nothing but it's hard to use
a cleaning tape only max =5-20  times in a normal envirronment!

but
   I  am not running   "nsrjb -U 20 -j xxxxxx -S 1"  every 3 days!!
   I get  the cleaning  out  at end of Uses (20X3 = every 60 days) because I
have other
  barely  used tapes; otherwise I would have run   "nsrjb -U 20000 -j
xxxxxx -S 1!
