 version (6.1.3)
We have only few cleaning tapes and where i am they buy everything,
"but not cleaning tapes for the library"
so what we did was
-- set "auto clean" =yes and "cleaning interval" =3 days nothing else,
and   keep along giving the    - nsrjb -U 20 -j xxxxxx -S 1
cycleing our  few cleaning tapes;
Because like (DAVE) said if you "listen" to the drive cleaning light
you will dry out all your cleaning tapes going after drives that don't
really need
cleaning!!

There is also a firmware issue here if we're talking about DLT7000
drives. Some older versions of drive firmware have known issues that
cause the cleaning light to illuminate more frequently than necessary. I
think it was version 106 (276A) that fixed this problem, so anything
higher should be OK. Otherwise it is worth requesting an update. LTO
drives hardly ever (virtually never) request cleaning, so periodic
cleaning is a no-no. If you use LTO your cleaning tape budget should
only need to be tiny.
