Hi Balki,

In the configuration of the client qsvr01,
you should put qsvr02_priv, the private NIC
of legato server qsvr02.

If you are filling your servers file on the clients,
be sure qsvr02, qsvr02_priv and their fully qualified
domain name to be listed. (if not fill both, one a line,
and restart nsrexecd services)

You can then moniror which NIC is being
used using netstat cmd.

HTH,

Thierry

Subject: RE: [Networker] Using private LAN to backup clients

Hi :

My legato server is qsvr02.
My clent is qsvr01.

The public ipaddress for qsvr01 is 172.18.10.6
The private ipdddress for qsvr01 is 192.168.1.7

I have these in my etc/hosts
172.18.10.7 qsvr02 svr02.giac.com loghost
172.18.10.6 piaqsvr01
#
#
192.168.1.7 qsvr01_priv
192.168.1.8 qsvr02_priv

So in the client window for qsvr01, should I put qsvr01_priv or
qsvr02_priv.

Thanks,
-Balki

You need to fill "Server Network Interface" field
in client setup window, for all clients you want to
change network traffic, with the hostname assigned to
the backup server's NIC interface you want to balance
the traffic to.

Subject: [Networker] Using private LAN to backup clients

Hi All :

I remember seeing a document with procedure to use private LAN to backup
clients.
Our public LAN is clogged and backups are slow. I already have a
private
LAN(100MB full-duplex) and would like to use this for backup.

Can somebody guide me.

Thanks in advance,
-BaCha
