Can one acutally do an mmrecov of a media database from Unix to Windows in
order to keep the media database?

If that were to work, I imagine the first problem encountered be a block
size error between the Solaris written tapes and the windows controller/tape
drive block size.

I thought there were endian problems as well between the 2 OSs that
prevented this is some way?

You are indeed lucky.
