OK, I have a hole in my knowledge here.
I was interested in using the environment variable,

       NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_DEVICE-TYPE environment variable.

My shell doesn't like a variable named:

       NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_8MM_AIT-3

and complains "Command not found"

It would be happy enough if I used:

       NSR_DEV_BLOCK_SIZE_8MM_AIT3,

but that's not what the device is called.

Does anyone know how to jam a "-" into an environment
variable without a complaint from Linux?
