Storage Tek has been here as well, and added the firmware for our LTO-1
drives as well, but, it did not rectify the situation.

StorageTek is coming next week to put the latest IBM LTO-1 firmware on our
devices. I am encouraged to hear this fixed your problem.

I had the same problem with Maxell tapes in IBM LTO-2 drives. A firmware
upgrade fixed the issue...

Subject: [Networker] LTO Drive or Tape Problem

Setup:
6 IBM LTO drives located in a STKL180
We have 2 drives scsi attached to directly to the Networker server. 3 drives
are attached to 3 different AIX boxes with one drive daisy chained to
another drive. Running 7.1 Networker

Dilemma:
With the Imation, Maxell, and EMC brand LTO tapes we are experiencing the
following:
*       Tapes showing full prematurely.
*       Media surface error
* "Just hangs", goes into a loop.

We have not had any problems with the Fuji brand tapes, but, we did not
catch this in time and our manager is not letting us buy into the tapes that
are working without any problems.

Does anyone have a "fix" for this issue or have experienced the same?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Dan Maine
