You can also start your group enabling "No save index" option
(or the -I option if you use CLI).

Create then a group where all clients are belonging to
and enable "no save data" (or -O option using CLI).
You will be able to backup all of your client file index
and bootstrap at the same time.

It's helpful in DDS env and avoid tape unload/load requests.

Hope that helps,

Thierry

A bootstrap will get generated if the running group has the backup
server within it. Even if the level is listed as "skip".

You might want to do your customer better by putting the backup server
in its own group schedule and pool if tape recycling is that important
of an issue.

Subject: [Networker] Skip Level Backups

Hi,

My customer wants to define a group to take backups on Monday & Thursday
only and that too full backups.

I have configured a schedule wherein Monday & Thursday are marked full
and
others are marked SKIP. Even on the skip level, it picks up the tape and
writes a bootstrap report onto the tape. My concerns are -

1. If it writes bootstrap daily, when would the tape get recycled even
if
the retention period for the save sets is kept for 2 days.

2. Is there any other more effective way to configure this. Actually the
customer wants saparate groups for Mon-Thu, Tue-Fri, Wed-Sat and then
Sunday. With this configuration, all the four groups start & three of
them
settle down only with bootstrap. This seems a big exercise especially
when
you have six such sets of groups with Oracle hot backups configured.

Could anyone help me with this?

Regards,
Anuj
