Our environment includes the following:

Legato 6.1.3
AIX server 5.1
STK L180
Nexsan Ataboy (Disk staging unit)
Fibre Brocade switch

The Nexsan is 2.2TB and is configured in AIX as one large JFS2 file
system.  When the Nexsan is staging data to tape, the device status changes
to "writing idle."  When this occurs Legato keeps requesting the device but
it's as if the device has "gone to lunch."  The only way to clear this
status is unload/reload the Networker daemons.  When Networker comes back
up, we try to manually stage the data off to tape.  This does not always
work.
