I am not sure what all the numbers mean, but each set of numbers seem to
mean something. In our STK9710 with DLT IVs, the 2nd set and last set of
numbers for all the volumes is the same. The 3rd set of numbers seems to be
the hexadecimal equivalent of the short number you see in an nsrjb (no -v)
or in the default mminfo -r 'volid'.

An mminfo -r 'volid(53)' <volume> will dispaly the long (hexadecimal) volume
id that matches the nsrjb -v output.

Hi,

I notice if I run 'nsrjb -Cv', I see long volume ids as opposed to the
short one. This volume id looks completely different from the normal,
short one you see if you don't use the 'v' option. I see nothing in
common.

Three questions:

1. How is this long value derived from the short one or vice versa? Are
they related?

2. What do all those '.' delimited sections of the long value mean? Does
NetWorker really need to track it to that level of precision?

3. Is there a way using mminfo that I can see the long volume ids? From
the man page, I see no way to do this, only the short format.

Thanks.

George
