Although I don't have an actual answer, I can concur with Scott Russell on
the problems he described with the AIC driver for scsi devices on linux. I
use several linux platforms and the system seems to want to use IRQ 11 for
any NIC I put into the box, 3Com, IBM, DEC, etc. The Adaptec scsi card I
have in there also uses IRQ 11. The two just don't get along. I ended up
having to use the onboard 10mbs NIC (IRQ 10) to connect to my network.
Backups are rather slow.
