Hi,

How do people handle a situation where you wipe a client and then
re-install the OS and then re-add it as a client with the same name?

Here's an example. You have a client outside a firewall that's being
backed up. One day, you decide to move the client inside the firewall,
so you wipe the disk, re-install the OS, re-install networker client,
and now what? Should you
A. first remove the client from the listing, rename the old index and
then re-create client entry?

Seems like this would start you out with a clean slate, and if you ever
had to recover anything old then you could either use saveset recover or
rename the new index and then move the old index back to original name
and/or use the nsrck -L7 trick or whatever that is wherein you recover
older version of the client's index.

B. Don't make any changes on NetWorker server end of things. Just run a
full on the new client which will simply add new index entries to
existing index from before. This has benefit of allowing you to recover
older files from before if necessary?

Any recommendations or normal policy to follow here?

Thanks.

George
