Does anyone know exactly what these pas-thru drivers do

Pass-through drivers allow NetWorker to send SCSI commands directly to
the picker in an autochanger. Most systems don't provide one directly,
so NetWorker provides it's own. Other tape operations use the regular
unix tape libraries (or emulation layer on Windows).
