Hi,

I'd like to know if we have the proper stinit.def entries for our
Storagetek L80 (4 Seagate LTO gen 1 drives). I was looking at Legato's
web site hardware compatibility guides where they have a stinit.def
file, suggested entry for Linux systems
(http://portal1.legato.com/resources/compatibility/networker.cfm)

Here's what they have:

#
# initial LTO Gen 1 entry for Seagate , may need additional tweaks
#
manufacturer=SEAGATE model = "ULTRIUM06242-XXX" {
can-bsr scsi2logical drive-buffering
timeout=800
long-timeout=14400
mode1 blocksize=0 density=0x00  # as close as possible to st.conf entry
}

And here's what we've been using:

# Seagate Ultrium LTO
manufacturer=SEAGATE model = "ULTRIUM06242-XXX" {
scsi2logical=1 can-bsr auto-lock
mode1 blocksize=0
}

I'm not sure if maybe we should change our entries to look like what
they have? We don't specify density or any timeouts. Also, we don't
specify drive-buffering, and we have scsi2logical set to 1. Hmm ...
Anyone recommend that we change ours to look like what they have? What
will happen if we do this and then try to read data from before?

We're running 6.1.1 on Linux Red Hat storage node and 6.1.1 on Solaris
primary server.

Thanks.

George
