I believe I've seen it in the past, and in fact I found one tape in our
jukebox right now that fits that description (at least in the GUI
"Volumes" window).

You might be correct that recyc->R, but right now I can't see why that
would be.  For example, you

- run a savegroup that writes a number of savesets to the volume "Foo:001"

- "Foo:001" does *not* fill, it still has room for more savesets.

- pull "Foo:001" from your jukebox and stick it on a shelf.

- wait until all savesets on the volume have passed their retention.

- at this point, I think "Foo:001" can transition from "appen"
  (appendable) to recyc (recycleable) without needing to pick up "(R)".

I could be wrong though.  ;-)
