Riaan,

I think I understand the question. I'll rephrase it in my words and you
can tell if I have the correct meaning.

By cross platform restore I assume you mean restore a Unix file to a
Unix file system but using a Windows machine to browse the indexes and
select the files.

If that is the question then yes is the answer. In previous versions you
could only do this by command line recover, now you can use nwrecover on
a Unix machine to browse the index of a Windows machine and
The networker user GUI on Windows to browse a Unix machine's index.

You can't restore a Windows file directly to a Unix system or vice
versa. (One way round this is to restore Windows file to Windows machine
and FTP to Unix.)

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Regards
Bob

Hmmm ...

Quick question for the "powers that be" out there.

Networker didnt (doesnt?) support cross platform restore (ex Windows
Backup Server / Unix Client) in version 6.x. I remember seeing / hearing
somewhere that version 7.x would be able to do this.

Can somebody confirm this (or not). Has anybody tried this successfully?

All replies welcome ...

Regards,
Riaan
