My company's used STK for quite some time. The products have ranged from
a 20-slot library to a 6,000-slot silo. We have a 9310, 9710s, 9714s,
L80s, L40s and L20s.

The fact some of these libraries are approaching a decade of use should
attest to the reliability.

I also consider STK's support to be at the top of the heap.

I would agree completely.

Asking for hardware recommendations on a list like this is always going
to generate responses from people that are partial to vendor X, so unless
one sees a lot of *bad* feedback for a particular vendor, I don't know
that it accomplishes a lot.

I have no experience with ADIC, but in the years I've been on the list
I've seen a lot of fantastic feedback about ADIC libraries and little
or no bad feedback about the hardware.

I've also seen the same kind of feedback (nearly universally positive)
regarding STK equipment. I *do* have experience with STK equipment
and their support organization. The equipment and the support people
have been outstanding, and we've been using STK stuff for several years.

STK is one of the "big boys" especially for tape, so if Matthew's just
looking for a moderately sized library, he's very likely going to end
up going through a sales reseller. The quality of the sales reseller
may be a deciding factor.

Tim

Very well put Tim, and I would have to agree completely. Like you I
have not had any personal experience with ADIC, but we have used STK
equipment for years and have had very little trouble. When we have had
problems, the support folks have been exceptional.
