Hi,

It is true that the system does not need the sg driver to communicate
with the Adaptec SCSI card, but the sg drivers needs the Adaptec driver
to communicate with devices on the scsi card.  NetWorker uses the sg
driver (called a "pass through" driver on other systems.  Like the
lus driver on solaris) to communicate directly with the picker.  It is
not a feature provided directly by the Adaptec driver.

Say, here's a question.  Did you change the SCSI host id of the
Adaptec card?  I doubt it, since it's buried in the cards BIOS,
but it is another variable.  See the NSR_SCSI_HOST_ID (or some
such environment variable), hopefully in the documentation somewhere.
