The tape needs to be relabelled before use if it is `recycleable', but
the system should do it itself unless you've turned off some funky
option.

You could try "nsrjb -L -b'your pool' tapelabel" to label it. Or
`nsrmm -o notreadonly tapelabel' if it refuses to label. Or look at
the physical write-protect tab, as someone suggested.
