Hi John

We have disabled RSM and started the Clone again, but the outcome was the
same....the same errors :-(.

At present we have disable the CDI on the devices and currently retesting the
clone. It has not fallen over as yet.

The ESL9322 is attached by a HBA card in the server with fibre cable passing
through a SAN switch to the NSR (Network Storage Router) in the ESL. So
basically there is no SCSI card....Does this mean we need to remove and
reinstall the drivers for the HBA card?

Thank you for your reply.

Debra and Ruth

Hi Deb,

one of the things I noticed are these errors:
01/06/04 14:02:57 nsrmmd #1: unable to complete CDI get TapeAlert call
01/06/04 14:02:57 nsrmmd #1: check_tapealert: check_cdi_infop and
cdi_open failed, 8 8 the device file name specified is unusable by CDI
for device \\.\Tape2
01/06/04 14:02:57 nsrd: media warning: \\.\Tape2 writing: unknown error
1167 (0x48f), at file 4 record 12753

The unknown error 1167 translates to "The device is not connected", so
it looks like you're having some connection issues to the drive from the
windows level more than anything.

There are a few possible solutions:
1 - disable the jukebox within Removable Storage Manager (RSM) under
Windows then restart.
2 - Remove the drivers for your scsi card, drives and (if applicable)
library, reboot, then re-install them.

Let me know how you get on.
Cheers,
John

This error appears to happen with data from all clients but is more
frequent with Netware data.
If anyone has any ideas on this we would be very grateful :))
If required this is our Networker server config
Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
Legato v 7.1
Netware/Microsoft/Unix clients
ESL9322 Library with 4x 160/320 SDLT drives
Thanks
Regards
Deb & Ruth
