Hi all,
this is what I tried today with our Storagetek L700 barcode enabled jukebox:
- shut down Networker
- swapped two tapes (slot 101 and 102)
- power cycled the L700, so it scanned all slots and tapes
- started Networker and did a
nsrjb -vv -IE
nsrjb -l <volnameA>
Networker said: Oops, this is not volnameA, but volnameB
and ejected volumeA
Why this? I thought that NW asks the (barcode enabled) jukebox when doing an
-IE, but NW somehow seems to ignore what the jukebox tells. BTW, NW is 6.1.3
on Redhat 7.3. Can somebody tell me why barcodes seem to be ignored while
doing an inventory?
The reason for this test: I want to know why NW often says
'box_unload: retry: failed - will retry'
'box_unload: retry: sleeping 30'
when trying to 'nsrjb -u <volume_that's_not_busy_and_not_needed_right_now>'
Right now, it told me:
box_unload: retry: sleeping 30
box_unload: retry: failed. exceeded timeout, aborting
[several minutes later:]
Jukebox handle being closed at port [email protected]
About to release Robot arm lock
slot number 193, Illegal Request, Medium Not Present
failed unloading drive `/dev/nst0' to slot '193', error '25'
Error: while operating on slot `193': Illegal Request, Medium Not Present
Tue 23:48:38 Illegal Request, Medium Not Present
nsrjb: Jukebox error: Tue 23:48:38 Illegal Request, Medium Not Present
I just want to find out what is going wrong here...
Regards
Olaf
