Have you added the client to the backup server's hosts file? Legato seem to
like using a hosts file.

Use nslookup to obtain the reverse for the client mentioned. I can't
remember why, but someone from legato mentioned that it may not be
healthy to specify the IP as an alias to the client. If DNS is setup
correctly, in a WIN environment at least, when you add the client using
the short name, the FQDN should automatically appear as an alias. If it
doesn't then it usually points to a reverse pointer entry record that is
incorrect.

This is just based on my experiences...

Hope this helps.

I am having a problem adding a new client to my NW backup server.
NT environment.

I have added the client as the full domain name and ip address as the
alias
clientname.domainX
I have completed an nslookup of the ip and the full name and this is all
good.
however the client fails to backup with the following:
'clientname.domainY is not a registered client' I don't understand where
networker is getting the other domain name from?
both the domain names are active domains, but the client is registered
as
domainX

can anyone give me any hints please.
Thank you
