I am attempting to figure out the best way archive specific backups of a
server and its data and I am not sure the best way to do it. So, here
is the rundown...
I have a server, S1, that is running exchange. I want to backup the
servers Information Stores Monday to Saturday and keep these for three
months. I then want to backup the same information on Sundays and then
keep these for 1yr+. Now, I run AlphaStor which associates rotation
policies with NetWorker pools, so I need two pools, one for the short
rotation and one for the long.
This is what I am thinking of doing...
And two clients:
S1 - Short Term with Browse and Retention of 12 weeks
S1 - Long Term with Browse of 12 weeks and Retention of 1yr+
Create two groups:
Exchange-ShortTerm (S1 ST inside)
Exchange-LongTerm (S1 LT inside)
And Two pools:
ExchangeShortTerm which serves the group of the same name
ExchangeLongTerm which serves the group of the same name
And two schedules that go with the same named group:
ExchangeST - M:Full, T:F, W:F, TH:F, F:F, S:F, Su:SKIP
ExchangeLT - M:Skip, T:S, W:S, TH:S, F:S, S:S, Su:Full
Any comments? Any doing something similar with a little more
streamlined solution? I am going to have to do a lot of this type of
stuff, so if there is a cleaner way, I would love to know.
Cheers,
Jim
