Networker Users,

We are using Networker 6.1.3 to backup a NetApp Filer running Data ONTAP
6.4R1. Recently we had a need to restore a large number of files in
multiple directories from tape. We wanted to restore only the files that
had been deleted and skip any existing files because some of them had been
modified after the other files were deleted.

We could not find any way to do this because NDMP restores do not honor the
noforce (CLI) or prompt me for conflicts (GUI) options. Existing files are
always overwritten.

The best solution we found was to relocate the restored files into a
subdirectory and manually move the ones that we needed back to the original
location.

Does anyone have a better solution? Perhaps someone has written a script
to automate this process that they are willing to share. Currently we are
running Networker 6.1.3 but we are thinking of upgraded to 7.1 so solutions
for either version are welcome.

Thanks in advance for your help. Please reply directly to me and I will
post a summary.
