Thanks Kris and Davina,

Kris was correct it appears to be the fault of the shell that I was using,
using the ksh seems to resolved that issue. Now I guess I will find out if
it will work on production machine.

Davina in answering to your question, I wanted to enter auth code via
command line because I have to enter in 59 licenses in one hit and I am
trying to make it easier by scripting it.

My question is now answered so thank-you all for the help/suggestions.

Cheers,

Alex.
