LTO 2 drives can read LTO 1 tapes, just not vice versa.

Subject: [Networker] Upgrading from LTO 1 to LTO 2 Drives
I am currently upgrading my Storagetek L700 from 12 Seagate LTO 1
Ultrium
Drives to 15 IBM T400F LTO 2 drives. Has anyone run into any backwards
compatibility issues upgrading from LTO 1 to LTO 2 drives? I'll have
about 6
months of LTO backups on hand and I want to be able to read them. I am
not
concerned about appending to the LTO 1 Tapes.
