Hi

We have 6 Win2K storage nodes scattered over a wide geographical
distance.

I am currently writing documentation/instructions for the site staff on
what to do when the server is rebooted due to scheduled maintenance.
Things like run inquire to check the tape drives are being seen and so
on. Currently the staff know how to recycle and label tapes but that's
about all.

A problem occurs if the server is in the middle of a backup or a group
is scheduled to start while the server is down. Currently I dial in and
either start the group or put the client in the default group and start
that. This requires me to be available whever we have an outage at a
remote site.

I was thinking of having a couple of spare groups (autostart disabled)
where I could temporarily move all the clients from that site into and
then instruct the staff at the site to start those groups when they are
finished. Of course I then have to move them back into their original
group the next day.

This is more of a centralised management issue than a Legato issue I
guess but wow do others solve this problem?

NB Clients are placed in groups dending on the time they take to
complete and their importance. The groups start time is staggered to
prevent extraneous load on the backup server.

Thanks
Dean
