Thanks for the replies.
* Post SP3 NSS patch ... no we haven't applied it yet, although we have on some
of our other clients. I am sceptical as to whether this will fix the problem,
as this prob was happening when our client was Netware 5.0 SP6a w/ NSS 5n. But
I might give it a shot, cheers.
* TCP keep-alive / timeout values .... not sure if this sort of thing is
configurable in Netware, but I will look into it.
FYI last night's backup of this client is still running, and this time it is
not just one volume that has repeated, ALL of the volumes (5) are repeating
.... and not one has been updated in the indexes yet. The rest of the clients
in this group completed long ago.
I think I jinxed it by talking about it behind it's back :-)

Just a thought - are these traditional Netware volumes or NSS volumes?
You say SYS is fine (which will be NSS). What about this VOL1 - is
that NSS?
There is a patch out for NSS on Netware6 sp3 (nw6nss3b.exe).

Hi Robert
We are having the same problem with 1 of our Netware clients. It is at
the same revision as our other clients (Netware 6.0 SP3, TSAUP12,
Networker client 4.21, Networker 6.1.3).
It was also doing it before we upgraded to Netware 6.0, ie. when it was
Netware 5.0 SP6a, TSAUP9, same Networker client/server.
We seem to be experiencing the same symptom ... the volume will backup,
complete .... then restart immediately. The client indexes are not
updated. Then it will complete, and immediately restart again. This
may happen 8-10 times, and finally, the index is updated, and the
savegroup completes.
The other volumes are unaffected (ie. they backup once only), although
I do remember this happening with the other volumes in the past, on this
same server.
I have recreated this client on the backup server, even on a different
backup server (same Networker revision), and had the same results.

Hi folks,
My setup environment as below
W2K NW 6.11
NetWare 5.1 with ClientPak 4.2
Problem
We have two Netware clients 5.1 with the same version 4.2. One of the
Netware server keep on backing up VOL1: repeatedly about 10 over times
by
itself. What suprise us is it only keep on backing up VOL1: volume,
other
volume like SYS: VOL: are fined
All of the volume fall under the same backup schedule and this doesn't
happen to my other Netware client. So I suspect problem could due to
this
particular netware server but don't know where should I look for, need
some
help and advices here, thanks in advance.
