Re: [Networker] Windows 2000 disaster recovery - how to? SOLVED, but where is Wordpad?

I found the same problem during test of NRM (Networker Recovery Manager). After
full restore of a Win 2K (SMP or not SMP), there are problems :
* wordpad not found;
* SAN disk attached (via Emulex LP8000) not available.
We thought also that Networker does not back up the whole machine BUT the
problem does not come from Legato Networker but from microsoft ! (go to Unix
:-)). There is a problem with the registry backup. This problem is solved with
Win 2K SP4.
After applying service pack 4, everything was solved.
Pierre.

Subject: Windows 2000 disaster recovery - how to? SOLVED, but where is Wordpad?
Hi all,
I found the solution. If I want to restore a SMP system, I have to install a
SMP Windows 2000, even if the target machine has only one CPU. I think
Networker missed a few details when it backed up the original machine; I have
no other explanation.
And Networker definitely does *not* back up the whole machine, I can prove
that. For whatever reason wordpad.exe is missing after the succesful restore (I
did not install "accessories" on the target machine, I thought restoring
C: + SYSTEM things would include everything).
At least my Active Directory is up and running. Next step will be the restore
of our Exchange server. I am really curious if Networker forgets some details
there...
