Thank you, Yves.

The scanner command works without the file & record numbers but it does take
a while to scan the tape just as you predicted. You said that I should
specify the file & record number but there are several values returned for
those. Do I need to repeat the scanner command for each file & record?

You can specify the file and record media number to speed up the process :

scanner -S <SSID> -f <file> -r <record> <device> | uasm -rv -m /old=/new

this will work even if the save-set is spanned on multiple tapes, but do not
allow to restore multiple SSIDs.

If you need to restore multiple SSIDs, with save sets located on the same
tape you can try :

scanner -s <Networker server> -S <SSID1> -S <SSIS2> ... -c <Networker
client> -f <file> -r <record> <device> -x uasm -rv -m /old=/new

you have to specify the lower file and record # in this last case.
