Check the browse time on your recover session. Sounds like you have a more
recent version of the backup on media that is offsite. If that's true, you
would need to change the browse time to 07/04/03 22:01:00 to recovery the
data from the savesets listed below.

I'm sure.

{0}:/home/staff/rharris>mminfo -v -q
'client=mailserver1,level=0' | grep ONSITE | grep 07/04
ONSITE.400 mailserver1 07/04/03 22:00:08 120 GB 103884292 tb full
/usr/var/CommuniGate
ONSITE.501 mailserver1 07/04/03 22:00:05 11 MB 103884289 cb full /
ONSITE.501 mailserver1 07/04/03 22:00:06 953 MB 103884290 cb full /usr
ONSITE.603 mailserver1 07/04/03 22:00:08 37 GB 103884292 mb full
/usr/var/CommuniGate

These 4 are a set of 9 currently sitting in file devices. The tape it
wants is currently in Iron Mountain's storage offsite. And the actual
recover requested a number of onsite files I'm guessing for files which
have been touched after the last full however the system wants the
offsite tape for files which are older than the fulls on disk.

If it weren't for a rather important, and rather nice person, I'd spend
a few weeks digging for the full explanation. I did find the "recover
-S" syntax to get this working for now and it's going, but why the heck
is it doing this in the first place.

Valid question, no insult taken.
