Hi Scott,

The solution to the problem related : was granting the "allow access to
network" right for the user account name specified in the remote user and
password field...

Thanks,
Arusha

Hello again,

Looking a little further, I see that this status can be the result of
corruption in the Exchange Database. Please examine and consider MSKB
Q328671.

Thanks,
_Scott

Hello Arusha,

This is not especially a similar problem. It is a different backup
operation entirely. It is a database backup, and the failure is in trying
to communicate with Active Directory. And anyway, is it reasonable to ask a
Hobbit to be a NetWorker Server for a Balrog? :-)

Be all of that as it may, this one *does* look like permissions. Status
0x8009030c is SEC_E_LOGON_DENIED which indicates that we were not allowed
in. Make sure that you are running in a proper login.

Microsoft has noted that they had a problem in Windows 2000 that can lead to
this status, solved in SP2; see MSKB 271907.

Thanks,
_Scott

Hello Dave,

Status 0x80040108 is MAPI_E_INVALID_OBJECT. MAPI status numbers in
general can be found in MSKB Q238119.

This status in particular I have only heard of twice, and neither time
have I been able to zero in on a solution. It might indeed be
permissions, but this is not the status I would expect -- we normally
see MAPI_E_LOGON_FAILED (0x80040111) for permissions problems.

I think that it is as likely to be a resource starvation problem in
Exchange. For the last person with this status, I had asked if they had
plenty of memory, and if they could reboot the Exchange Server. The
person never responded back. Unforunately I do not know whether that
means that they solved the problem, or were disgusted with the lack of a
concrete answer.

Hope that this helps,
_Scott

I'm having a problem doing a "brick level" backup of an Exchange 2000
datastore. The output from Networker is below. I can back up the
public folders and I can't back up the mailbox store. It feels like a
permissions problem, but I can't track down precisely where I broke
this.

I've scoured Google and other sites trying to find info on this error
and have come up well short of the mark. Any help would be greatly
appreciated!

Thanks!
