We normally recommend the following proceedure for a full NW database check.

Full Data Base Check

1. Stop NSR

2. Delete nsr\temp dir

3. Start NSR

4. Ensure no other access to database

5. NSRIM -X

6. NSRCK -L1,2,3,4,5,6 in sequence

Repeat 6 as required until clean run is obtained. This is because some
errors can mask others. Errors are cleared on one run, and then more orrors
are exposed on the next run.

If this proceedure completes and returns a clean run with no errors you can
be reasonably sure your database is OK

NSRCK also has a -m option to work on the media database rather than the
cfi, altho' I have never used it.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

We seem to have a problem with NetWorker, surprise, losing media indices
frequently.  It doesn't matter if the media is less than 24hrs old or a
year old.  NetWorker just doesn't seem to retain the index.  So, we
can't see what's on the tape.

In order to correct this, we have been using the command "scanner -m
\\.\Tape#". Once this command complete, we can see the save sets on the
tape.

I'm just curious to know if there is another way we should be doing
this.

Windows 2000 Server
NetWorker 6.1.3
