Kit;

If you open Process Explorer on Win2K, there will be a listing of all
processes running in the top half of the program window. There you will
find the list of nsrmmd.exe's. If you click on each one of them, you
will notice in the bottom pane that there will be a \Device\Tape# listed
for the device in use. Find the one that's causing you the grief and
kill it. The nsrmmd.exe will re-spawn shortly thereafter but it should
resolve the hung drive-state issue.

If you like, I can forward you a screen shot in the morning. I'm going
off memory right now so I'm not 100%.

Good luck,

A few people on this list have said that process explorer can be used
on w2k to show which
nsrmmd's run against which tape drives.

Can someone offer some hints on where to see this in process explorer as
I cannot find it.

Thanks
