Hi Aure,
there is one possibility to drop the wait and abort: use the hidden option
"run time limit" in the savegroup.

It works as you say, but I had to restart the daemons. Apparently the
nsrmmd's were hanging after the remote drive was disabled (unusual...).
I wish (it's allowed, isn't it...) it reacted to a
timeout on 1st option and then attempted 2nd. option.
The same happens when a troubled drive finally is
automatically disabled, the backups won't drop the
wait and won't abort because there is actually no
error in the communication with the client.
