I belive u need to make a copy of the server and put that new copy into
the same group as a client, with the same retention policies. You can make
the server in the group run a skip all directive but it needs to be for
the index to get the right retention.

Subject: [Networker] differnt client retention policies
My backup server and all attached clients have 6 months browse and
retention policies, however I have one client which needs to be at 28 days
browse and retention policy.
Since the backup server completes this client backup with an index backup,
I therefore have a 6 months retention on the index data only.
This one client backs up to a different media pool since we want to
recycle
after 28 days, however this media isn't being flagged as recylable after
28
days because of the index backup having 6 months retention.
How can I get round this?
