Have found this at times to be a network problem - drops on the network,
switch or nic. Other times it has been the drive. If it is always the same
client while other clients have no porblem with the same drive, I would
check the client.

I have a client who has been plagued by erratic failures due to
inactivity
timeouts. It appears to be caused by an intermittent problem where a
partially-written tape is mounted, but takes excessively long to move to
end-of-data, sometimes more than an hour. Monitor window shows "moving
forward xxx files". I'm fairly confident that this isn't related
directly
to NetWorker, and we're in the process of reviewing firmware levels of
drives and library, but just wondering if anyone else has seen this kind
of
trouble before. The drives have been cleaned regularly.

Env: NetWorker Server 6.1.1 on Win2K, clients 6.1.1 Win NT/2K.
Library is STK 9730 with 2 DLT7000 drives.

Also noticed that clients will abort after 30 minutes, with "exceeded
inactivity timeout", but successive retries (set to 5) will fail almost
immediately, less than 5 minutes for 5 retries ????
