Sorry, let me give some more info:

Backup server- Sun Enterprise 6500 - Solaris Legato 6.1.2 - Solaris 8 pretty
well patched

Sun L700 12 drives - 9840b (STK 700 rebranded by Sun) & Sun L11000 16 DLT7000
drives(ALT P3000 rebranded by Sun)

The pervious Backup admin wrote a perl script to insert and remove tapes, using
the nsrjb command. We are having a major problem in the nsrjb trying to
inventory tapes, each time nsrjb -I loads the tape into the drive, because they
are not in the media database. Almost got that one solved. I guess I'm asking
for advice on procedures for Operations and any helpful tips/scripts. I heard
somoone saying they ran nsrck / nsrim once a week to keep it clean?

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend!
Steve

Does anyone have time to give me some detail about their Operations / NOC
personal concerning their daily tasks removing, inserting, inventorying tapes.

We backup about 7 TB a night, all of which go off site everyday. Our NOC staff
spends alot of time taking tapes in & out, inventorying tapes.

When the tapes are inserted & withdrawn, what command / application do you use
to be sure they are deposited and inventoried.

Thanks
Steve
