I have a customer who is trying to backup some directories that are mounted
from a BSD system to a RedHat 8.0 client.  The RedHat client has been
backing up its own filesystems just fine.  There are also a couple mounts
from other systems that seem to be okay.  But backing up the mounts from
this one client produces a number of problems, which aren't consistent,
change every time:

* labgw2:/backup/labdb/usr /backup/labdb/usr/libdata/doscmd/fonts/cp437-
8x16.pcf.gz: Input/output error
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/usr /backup/labdb/usr/libdata/doscmd/fonts/cp437-
8x8.pcf.gz: Input/output error
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/usr /backup/labdb/usr/libdata/doscmd/fonts/cp437-
8x14.pcf.gz: Input/output error
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/usr /backup/labdb/usr/libdata/ldscripts/elf_i386.x:

labgw2:/backup/labdb/usr /backup/labdb/usr/libdata/ldscripts/elf_i386.xbn:

(occurs many, many times)

* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist save: save of /backup/labdb/dist to
legato.sandvine.com failed
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/bin 1 retry attempted
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/bin save: cannot chdir to labdb/, /backup/labdb/:
Input/output error
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist 2 retries attempted
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist save: cannot stat /backup/labdb/dist:
Input/output error
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist save: RPC error: RPC cannot encode arguments
(the "cannot stat" error will occur on one mount one day, a different one
the next day)

Then things get really squirrelly:
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist NSR server foo.bar.com: current request exceeds
parallelism
* labgw2:/backup/labdb/dist save: waiting 30 seconds then retrying
(repeated ad nauseum)

We've tried "save -x" and -L and -xL options in the Backup Command, to no
effect.
Has anybody seem similar errors before?
