I just have a few questions.

Were your target devices NAS(NFS mounted) or SAN(or scsi attached)?

What type of problems did you run into with >100GB files?

   We tried to do it on RaidZone machines (www.consensys.com) but trough
very unstable OpenNAS (RedHat Linux installed on Raidzone) we got rid of
this idea. So my advice before buy any hardware check filesystem
performance
and tolerance  carefully  with big files (>100GB).
