hello!

I'm running NetWorker 6.1.3 Build 428 on Linux, with a StorageTek
jukebox attached, providing 5 LTO Ultrium devices.

After setting the recommended NSR_DEV_TAPE_FILE_SIZE_LTO_ULTRIUM
environment variable, nearly every media acces brings up a media
alert message like this:

Wed 10:16:41 media alert: setting (LTO Ultrium) tape file size to (100000
blocks)

Since NetWorker is configured to email media alert type
notifications, every media access results in annoying emails. But
since the default entry for media alert type is the 'Tape mount
request 3', which also includes other important notifications, it
can't simply set silent.

Is there any hint on getting rid of the above notifications?

Additionally, there is another strange message appearing when trying
to recover files from an already mounted tape:

Wed 08:22:28 media notice: Volume "000070" on device "/dev/nst2": Cannot decode
block. Verify the device configuration. Tape positioning by record is disabled.

Some of the interesting configuration statements are:
Name: /dev/nst2
Media Family: tape
Media Type: LTO Ultrium
Enabled: yes
Write enabled: yes
Read only: no
Volume block size: 64 KB
Jukebox device: yes
Auto media management: no

The above error happens when NetWorker has to reposition the tape
e.g. if one selects an older version of a file. This fails with above
message and NetWorker does completely rewind the tape and restarts
positioning from there. So, it's working, but the message is confusing.
Anyone else with similar problems here?

With kind regards,

        Frank 'Freddy' Altpeter
