Legato has licensed the disk based backups is because it is very popular. So, 
if Legato see's $$$ in some of the options George is talking about... sure 
enough... future NW versions will have those options licensed!! probably they 
will include the word "Advanced" so that it sounds different. 

Of course, there will be a "grandfathering" program... that should make us all 
feel better!!

This is a strange term.

A "fathering program" sounds like a government initiative to increase
the population.

What does that make a grandfathering program?

 From its context it seems to be a scheme to extract more income from
customers by stealth.  Give them something (that they have always had)
for free and then start charging them an annual fee to keep using it.

Much like the Linux ClientPak.

What next?  The Media Clone Option?  DLT Backup Option?  LTO Backup
Option?

Solaris ClientPak?

Media Database Connection licenses?

Media Multiplexing Option?
