I'm using HP's Galactica Surestore E 4/40 HVDS with HP Ultrium drives on a
Sun E220R host. I have seen this problem on several occasions over the
history of this library (eighteen months). I have exercised my support
agreement and had the drive replaced when this occurs. I have also asked HP
to research the issue believing there may be an issue with HVDS. We have a
couple of LVDS libraries that have not had these problems.
The frequency has been along the line of every four to six months making it
unlikely that I have a hardware/OS or patch issue on the host. This really
appears to be a drive issue and HP has seemed to agree.
Keep us posted.
