up successfully. I somehow suspect that the client software in the Legato
server is corrupt and hence the backup is not getting through. Can i
reinstall the client software on the Legato server and check if this
rectifies the problem. Will this installation have any impact on the Legato
server, on the indexes and the databases on the server ? I suppose this
shud not have any impact but then can anyone confirm ? Can someone help me ?

Check whether your nsrexecd (NetWorker remote exec) service is still
running on the server. This would cause exactly this problem. I would
repeat Carsten's advice about 6.0, funnily enough I just posted the same
advice to someone else.

Also check your NT4 patch level. You need SP6a.
