As you pointed out, savepnpc is not a particularly good fit here. What has
been suggested is generally good, but I would suggest that the best way to
trigger any such script would be to create a notification to do this based
on the same conditions as the savegroup completion.
I would generally avoid doing this sort of thing, you often find that your
environment outgrows the situation, and a backup that just fits a DLT tape
now might take 1.01 DLT tapes in a few weeks time. Then you have to
redesign your solution from scratch.
