Peter makes a good point.

Level backups were confusing to me until I saw the diagrams in the manual.

If you have a Legato media kit (the set of CDs) there should be one labeled
"Documentation Suite" or somesuch.  NetWorker documentation is also online
at the Legato web site.

Start at http://www.legato.com/resources/manuals/ and you should be able to
get there.
