Hello,

This 'feature' has been discussed before, but it's caused by the fact that
the backup server owns the indexes.
If you run a group that hasn't got the server for a client ( and with that
an expiration time ), networker has to decide how long to keep the index,
and it goes paranoid:

It decides to use the longest known retention time ( often a year ) for the
indexes.

two solutions:

Set the group to not backup indexes, and backup the indexes seperately (
how to do this has also been discussed on this list ).

Add the server to the group, give it the same expiration time as the oracle
stuff, but give it a schedule that always skip.

In my opinion, option 1 is preferable, since it avoids backup up the index
of the server itself all the time you backup the oracle db.
It does include a little more work.

Regards,
Dirk Verhoeff
