You run jbconfig on the machine that's going to control the robot.

Subject: [Networker] San Storage Node

Hi Carl!!

I have few more questions.

Actually, I have a Dell 136T librairy with 6 LTO drives attach to a SAN
switch. I have 6 Dynamic Drive Sharing license and 4 storage node licenses.

Do I have to run the "jbconfig" command both on the networker server and
the client (Storage node)?

What is the relation between the result of the "inquire" command that I get
from my networker server and the "jbconfig" command that I have to run on
it?

Thank
Stef

1. Make backup copies of all .res files in ...\nsr\res.
2. From nwadmin GUI, enter Enabler for SAN Storage Node, and Authorization
Code if available.
3. If client software is already installed on SSN system, remove.
4. Install NetWorker software on SSN system, specifying Storage Node
option at first setup screen. Disable Removable Storage Manager service in
Computer Manager.
5. Run ...\nsr\bin\inquire to determine SCSI addresses and names of
attached library and/or tape devices.
6. If a dedicated library is direct attached, run "jbconfig -s
<server_name>" from command line of SSN to create jukebox and device
resources. (see page 407 in Admin Guide).
7. If you have a tape drive in server's library direct-attached to SSN,
you must delete the existing Autochanger resource in the nwadmin GUI, then
use jbconfig to re-create it. As you add each device in the library, it
asks for which host owns the device.
8. If your tape devices are on a SAN switch, you may share the devices
between the server and the SAN storage node - with Dynamic Drive Sharing
enablers in place. jbconfig will ask whether each device is to be shared
or not, then prompts for multiple hosts and device names. There are other
factors such as group scheduling and switch zoning to consider in this case.
9. The final step to enable the SSN is to specify it's own host name in
its client definition in the field "Storage Nodes" (under Preferences Pane).

I'd be glad to help with any further questions.
