Will it work?  Umm... not sure, but I'd suspect it will if you screw enough
with the settings.  Will it be supported (by Sun)?  Not a hope in hell :)

But if you've got an E4500 you've already got two SOC+ ports on the IO
board!  Why not just use these to connect to the Multipack?  Sure, you
might need to buy some GBICs, but it's going to be a far neater solution
that what you're suggesting.
