I suggest you, to take a look at Legato Laptop. I've tried it with excellent
result against Veritas, the compression is just outstanding.
I think that's your only chance to get a nice result

Good luck

Osvaldo

Steve,

In a previous life, we backed up desktops. Each desktop had from 1-4 GB of
data and was backed up daily. This was in the days of Networker 4.X running
on adn SGI with a single library. There were about 650 clients on this
server. The problem was not the library, but the lack of cpu on the server.
It was a 16 cpu Challenge with lots of memory. That sucker would take
forever
to start up and check all of the indexes at the same time.

Given the cost of licenses, network bandwidth and people time required to
maintain this setup, I recommend encouraging users to use centralized
storage
and deal with laptops independently.

Good luck dealing with management on this issue!

Shelley
